Travel & Transportation

There are two airports in Rome:

Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) the major international airport in Rome and the largest airport in Italy. It is located in Fiumicino, a town 35 km southwest from Rome city center.

The 2nd is Ciampino Airport (CIA)  located 12 km from the centre of Rome, it is smaller than FCO, with one termial, although many lower cost airlines use Ciampino Airport making it one of the fastest growing airports in Italy.

 

For day-to-day travel, taxi's and Ubers are available in Rome.

TAXI'S
You can find a taxi at the main exit of the Airport International Arrivals. There will be many taxi’s there, or you can pre-book a transfer using this link  

EXPRESS TRAIN FROM FIUMICINO AIRPORT (FCO)
Every 15 min. there is an Express Train that will bring you to Termini Central Train Station. The trip takes 30 min. You can pre-book HERE
From Termini train station, you can take a taxi to the area of the venue.

 

Rome Termini Train Station

Rome's main train station is also Europe's biggest with 29 platforms and daily trains between cities in Italy and elsewhere in Europe.

In addition to rail services, the station contains currency exchange, restaurants, shopping, car rentals and the ItaliaPass Lounge.

Roma Termini Train Station is ideally situated, only a 6 minute walk from The Hive Hotel, our class venue.

 

 

The currency is Euro's, most restaurants and shops accept Euro's cash or credit card.

The city has many ‘Cash machines’ (ATMs) where you can withdraw Euro.

ATM's can also be found at the airport terminals when you arrive.

Rome Essential Trip Planning Guide

A few packing suggestions:

  • A sweater or wrap - it can get a bit chilly in class so an extra layer may be welcome
  • Walking shoes in case you want to explore the sights or shop
  • Check the weather forcast - you might require an umbrella or waterproof jacket
